We are pleased to announce the beginning of our Strengthening Communities podcast. The podcast will focus on a variety of topics that affect our community, how our values-driven programs are meeting needs, and how you and the larger community can be a part of the work being done to strengthen communities here at Access Services.
Why are we starting a podcast?
As Mark Boorse, our podcast host and Director of Community Development at Access Services says,
“Community issues require community solutions.”
We believe this podcast can be a tool in showing our community how they can be part of the solutions. Our leaders have proven to be consistent thought leaders in their unique industries which we anticipate will give educational benefits broadly and topically for our followers and communities.
How can you listen to the podcast?
Our first episode is live! As May is Mental Health Awareness month, the first episode will focus on Mental Health & Incarceration. It features Cristina Mejia, our Director of Justice Related Services and Shuja Moore, producer of the documentary, Pardon Me. Using lived experience as a springboard in advocacy, Mark, Cristina and Shuja talk candidly about the implications of mental health and incarceration, the difficulties in breaking the cycle of recidivism and, in Shuja’s case, the long journey to be pardoned of previous crimes.
The episode can be found on our website here: Podcast – Access Services. You can also listen on a number of different podcast streaming channels such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc. or watch the podcast on our YouTube channel.
