Bridging the Gap.
Partnerships between Mobile Crisis and police departments were developed in recognition of the need to reduce the burden on police departments and bridge the gap between police departments and the mental health field. Our crisis workers partner with police to discuss interventions both on the scene and ongoing situations that may allow people to slip through the cracks.
We currently work with all police departments in Montgomery County and share a formal partnership with ten departments. We have the ability to co-locate and co-respond as needed in forensic situations. Our ultimate goal is collaboration with police to best meet the needs of our community in a way that will bring long-term solutions. We adjust our involvement based on the needs of each unique police department and township.
If you would like to learn more about our partnerships with police departments, please contact us.
Montgomery County Overdose Response Team (MCORT)
MCORT is a collaborative effort that pairs a Department of Public Safety paramedic and a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS). This rapid-response team supports individuals and families affected by substance use and crisis situations. The teams are equipped with Advanced Life Support equipment for immediate medical care, and the invaluable support of a crisis worker with personal experience in long-term recovery. The team works in close collaboration with the EMS agencies which serve the county’s residents and visitors.     Â
Our goal is to reduce the incidence of overdose and the impact by partnering with individuals on their path to well-being.Â
