Marissa brings a unique blend of personal experience and professional expertise to Bucks LIFE. A decade ago, she began her journey with the program as a Transition-Age Certified Peer Support Specialist, drawing on her own experience as a participant in Access Services’ Transition to Independence Process (TIP) program. She later joined Access Services as a Certified Peer Specialist, supporting individuals through both the LIFE and TIP programs. Marissa’s lived experience fuels her dedication to helping youth and families build stability and lasting support systems.

Family Support Specialist

Denise Hooper

Denise has worked within the Bucks County LIFE Program for over 18 years and has about 25 year’s experience working within the field of family support.  Denise has co-chaired the Right to Education Taskforce and currently holds membership of this initiative. As a family support specialist, Denise provides information, resources, and support through all of the children and young adult systems of care in Bucks County, including Special Education.  Denise strives to help empower families to become their own child’s advocate.

Caleigh Smith

A native of New York City, Caleigh relocated to the area to attend Penn State, where she quickly developed a strong connection to the local community. Drawing on her personal experience with community-based support, Caleigh is dedicated to helping others navigate systems of care and access the resources they need. In her role, she provides compassionate, knowledgeable assistance to youth and families throughout the county. Outside of her professional role, Caleigh enjoys volunteering, exploring local trails, and spending time with her cats and loved ones.

Nicole Maio

With over 16 years of experience as an eighth-grade teacher, Nicole brings both professional expertise and personal lived experience to her role. As a parent of two children who once needed significant support, she understands firsthand the challenges families face when navigating care systems. Now, with her children grown, Nicole is deeply committed to helping other families find the guidance and stability they need. Her passion for supporting children, empowering parents, and serving the community drives her dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Outside of her professional work, Nicole enjoys spending time with her dogs, cooking and sharing meals, and pursuing ways to create positive change in the world.
