Teen Talk Line
Teen Helping Teens
The Teen Talk Line is a warm line for teens to anonymously call and talk about any issues or problems that they would like without fear of judgment.
The line is manned by peer mentors who received intensive training and supervision while they are on duty. The line is also located in the Children’s Crisis and Support Program and is a supplement to that program. This also allows any true crisis calls to be immediately transferred to a crisis worker.
The Teen Talk Line uses contemporary communication methods that appeal to teenagers including phone, text, and email.
The focus of the Teen Talk Line is to provide a preventative approach to teen issues avoiding more serious crisis situations, law enforcement activity and hospitalizations. It offers teens who have called the crisis line an avenue of support from someone their own age. The Teen Talk Line has also opened up partnerships with schools and has provided an opportunity to build youth leadership through training and volunteerism.
