Access Services - Creating Better Ways To Serve People With Special Needs
Autism
Since 1978, Access Services’ Autism Support has been enhancing the lives of people living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and providing support to their families and caregivers. We believe that every person living with ASD can achieve an improved quality of life using the support of our experienced, well-trained staff. By working with clients on the autism spectrum and their families & caregivers, we strive to increase independence and self-sufficiency – creating positive outcomes and reducing unnecessary hospitalizations, caregiver stress, law enforcement involvement and crisis interventions.
In Pennsylvania (PA), Access Services partners with the Bureau of Autism Services (BAS)—through this partnership the Access staff completes autism-specific training and makes proactive use of their clinical and technical support available through the BAS training website and weekly training webinars that specifically address issues related to autism. Access Services is also part of the new Adult Autism Waiver, one of two programs in PA specifically designed to help adults with an autism spectrum disorder participate in their communities in the way that they want to.
