Access Services Employee Represents WFCA at Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Service
Donna Donnelly, Community
and Provider Resource coordinator at Access Services, shared greetings on behalf
of the Wissahickon Faith Community Association (WFCA) at the Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Memorial Service, Monday, January 21, 2002. The service
was held at Congregation Beth OR in Ambler, also a member of the WFCA.
In her greeting to the
1,000 attendees, Donnelly emphasized that King was a man of character, a man
of deep conviction, and a godly man. She reiterated King’s thoughts from
his February 28, 1954 Rediscovering Lost Values sermon in which King questions
humanity’s belief in moral law, and ways it justifies doing wrong. Donnelly
ended by stating King’s view that God created the universe to be based on moral
law. We must know the simple disciplines of being honest, loving
and just with all humanity. If we don’t learn it, we will destroy ourselves.
Material things will come and go, but God will last forever.
The Wissahickon Faith Community Association is made up professionals from 25
churches, synagogues, and religious-based social service agencies and schools,
who meet on a regular basis to network and plan ecumenical community events.
WFCA also sponsors and supports special holiday events and special community
projects.
For over 25 years, Access
Services, a non-profit faith-based organization, has provided innovative services
to children and adults with special needs. These services afford individuals
the opportunity to live full and productive lives within their communities.
